About Me

I am a marine scientist with expertise and passion for science communication and education.

Throughout my studies, I conducted research projects focused on shorebirds and marine mammals, while developing a strong interest in science dissemination by creating videos and other contents for social media.

Currently, I am working as a communication and social media manager for a non-profit organization dedicated to the effective conservation of Italian seas through innovative outreach and conservation projects.

I am moved by a strong desire to learn and get involved by always giving my best effort. Some of my distinguishing skills include self-motivation, adaptability, reliability and organization.

My Projects

THE BLACK GOLD BENEATH THE PLATFORMS

I participated in A Greener Blue Initiative by The Lexicon, creating a video about fishermen and marine biologists joining forces to save a unique marine habitat and a sustainable fishing activity associated with gas platforms in the North Adriatic Sea.

Red Knots Behaviour & Movement

I won the ASAB council's choice award in the ASAB video contest held in Spring 2021, with this science communication video showing how researchers study the behaviour and movement of red knots, particularly the methods used for bird research, from capture to release and beyond

WATLAS Fieldwork on Griend

I made this video for NIOZ's outreach to show how the WATLAS team performs fieldwork on Griend to investigate where red knots go and how long they stay in the Wadden Sea on their migratory journeys. This information will reveal what areas are critical to shorebirds and why.

Personality and social foraging in captive Red Knot

In this video, you can see how I investigated the use of social information by captive red knots, examining their foraging behaviour both alone and in the group. With this aim, I conducted more than 300 behavioural assays in the experimental shorebird facility at NIOZ, on the island of Texel.

Big Bang Digital Video

I was delighted to be part of the Big Bang Digital, a free 3-day event that aimed at inspiring students to redefine the future and change the world with STEM! In this video I show my work with red knots, describing why studying them is important and how I ended up working with these animals. I hope it will inspire youngsters in their future career in science.
